Calling Tips

  • Be polite, respectful and clear.
  • Introduce yourself to whoever answers the phone. Let them know you are a constituent and mention what city you live in.
  • Tell them you want them to vote in favor of the health reform bill.
  • Ask them if they will be voting for the bill. If they are supporting the bill, thank them for their leadership, and if they're not, ask them to reconsider.

Example Script for Your Calls

Hello, my name is __________ and I'm a constituent calling from __________ (city or town).

I'm calling to ask you to vote for the House health reform bill.

Will Rep.__________ vote for the bill?

If yes: Thank you for your leadership, you have my support.

If no: I support this bill, as do many other constituents, and I hope you'll reconsider.

The House is poised to vote today on comprehensive health reform legislation — and we expect it to be very close. But with only hours left before the vote, the insurance industry and their allies are putting extraordinary pressure on every representative to defeat it.
