I am disabled in both legs, and need a diagnosis. I can not get medical care because my disability caused me to loose my job, and I have no health insurance. While I was still employed, a doctor told me that I neeeded to be tested for autoimmune or neuromuscular disease, so I could "get the right diagnosis and treatment." Then I lost my job, because I was unable stand too long as a cashier.
Now, I have to find another job, and I need a diagnosis and doctors statement about my job limitations.
At a job interview, the secretary saw that I could not get out of the low chair (with soft cushions), and told the interviewer that I was not functionally able to do the job. One employment agency told me I had a "functional impairment."
Whatever is wrong with me, is getting worse. (I can not stand or walk too long. I and have trouble walking one block when I do my grocery shopping. And I can not get out of the bathtub, unless I grab the sides of the tub and push myself up with my arms.) My muscles stiffen up with pain when I use them. Sometimes it is hard to move my body. And, I feel ill and sleepy. I am a female-age 56.
As an American, I believe all citizens should be able to get diagnosed when they are in pain or disabled, and not have to struggle to do daily activities, when they feel ill, and have trouble walking.
