Dear Mr. President, 27 Oct 2009, 06:00 EST
Please pass the "public option" without the centrist hacks. They and their industry-masters were entrusted with a third of our treasury to deliver healthcare to all, but instead collude to lavish on a chosen few. We're not talking about simple monopoly, but rather a racket that cares neither for the economy nor patients......
Because at the same time government policy segregates supply (maintaining artificial shortage and demand): industry blames the un-insured for risk, and the insured for being insured; as well as gov't for industry's self-serving regulations and the hack lawyers who implement them. This is just regulators of both parties working "hand-in-glove" with industry to "bid-up" budgets and profits......
And what passes for reform-discussion is there's no money to discuss. No problem. Send the g-men out to go get it. Everyone is "entitled" to a NON-inflated insurance option; and redundant, taxpayer-financed facilities should be nationalized to deliver it. We already paid for it......
Because it is the bourgeois patient being held responsible for the arbitrary outcomes of "quasi" private/free-market healthcare. Instead of the non-discriminating, patient-oriented system FDHoover asked for...we have the greatest "con-game" in the world, in which the NON-politically connected (with their blood, kidneys and bankruptcies), insure the "affordable" healthcare and lifestyles of the politically connected. What happens when the self-insured are gone ? Are the second-born next ?.....
A little more. "Trigger, co-op, public-private"? Healthcare has been trigger, co-op and public-private for 70 years already. And in every state lobbies and politicians continue to destroy competition, while expanding bureaucracies that contribute nothing to healthcare delivery. This despite the fact healthcare regulated for a century should be considered a civil right. Why not unify insurance subsidies and offer everybody a "single payer" plan? We already paid for it......
Make no mistake. If public-option is not implemented by reconciliation, signing statement or executive order - this means that the healthcare cabal is in control, and the middle-class is toast. If nothing else a national referendum in November would tell me whether the subsidized-insured are already the majority. The healthcare industry stopped serving the public with Flexner......
Should public-option or single-payer not occur, I humbly suggest mortgaging-out assets and using the friendly, neighborhood emergency room for all one's healthcare needs, not just simple emergencies......
But also, medical licensure should be federalized (ie, single license valid anywhere) and standardized to a single internship year; and state borders removed for purposes of employment. These measures would mobilize segregated, "domestic" resources...restore a primary-care focus...and destroy cost......
Quality, it should be noted, only comes through competition. I offer my services to a National Health Service, HHS, PHS etc. Gracias.
